DBU Ballpark – Capturing Sports Architecture from Above
Architecture exteriors and drone photography for T&D Systems
At Dallas Baptist University, the DBU Ballpark isn’t just a venue—it’s a landmark. With its classic red-brick architecture and scenic setting near Mountain Creek Lake, it offers a stunning canvas for architectural photography. For this project, drone photography was essential in capturing the scale, geometry, and context of this collegiate baseball facility.
From ground level, the park's arched entry, exposed steel roof structure, and timeless brickwork evoke a sense of tradition and pride. But from the air, the true elegance of the design becomes clear. Using drones, we were able to showcase the symmetrical perfection of the diamond, the layered seating bowl, and the park’s seamless integration into the surrounding campus.
Golden-hour aerials revealed the soft glow of stadium lighting against a backdrop of trees, tennis courts, and Texas skies—offering a perspective you can’t fully appreciate from the stands. Straight-down shots highlight the radial precision of the infield and the disciplined layout of the outfield berms and concourse circulation. From an altitude, it’s a masterclass in planning and symmetry.
The drone allowed us to float over the park, frame architectural elements in a broader campus context, and capture how the structure opens up to its environment. These elevated views weren’t just pretty pictures—they were essential in illustrating the ballpark’s full story.
As an architecture photographer, leveraging drone technology on a project like the DBU Ballpark allows us to do more than document a space—it helps reveal the design logic and visual impact from every angle.
