At Anson Jones Elementary, tradition meets transformation. This beautifully reimagined campus seamlessly bridges the school’s mid-century roots with modern design and functionality. Tasked with capturing the essence of this architectural renewal, we documented a space that honors its past while embracing the future of education.
From the moment you arrive, the restored brick façade and original modernist lines evoke a sense of legacy. The redesigned entrance provides a welcoming threshold, framed by native landscaping and enhanced with updated signage and lighting. Inside, the interiors have been reimagined to reflect both clarity and inspiration. Flooded with natural light from expansive windows and new skylights, the corridors and learning spaces feel open and engaging.
Photographing the auditorium was a highlight—its original character preserved with warm wood seating and acoustic panels updated in vibrant school colors. The cafeteria, now the “Tiger Café,” feels airy and flexible, supporting both meal times and collaborative activities. Each space was captured in a way that highlights functionality while emphasizing the emotional experience of students and staff moving through the environment.
One of the most compelling aspects to document was the interplay of old and new. Period architectural details remain intact but are now juxtaposed with sleek, modern finishes, efficient LED lighting, and cheerful wayfinding graphics. These elements underscore the thoughtful renovation strategy: preserve what works, elevate what’s needed.
Throughout our photography process, we prioritized showcasing the rhythm of the building: its clean lines, abundant light, and how children and educators are invited to connect with the space. From exterior twilight shots to sun-drenched hallways and classrooms ready for imagination, every frame tells a story of revitalization and purpose.
